Managing Skill and Certification Ratings

You can add the PSA Manage Skills and Certifications component to any Lightning App page, or PSA Home page, where users can review their own records. For example, the PSA Administration page, or PSA Workspaces when the extensions are installed. You cannot add this component to a Lightning record page.

You can create, edit, and delete your own skill and certification ratings.

You need read and write permissions on all mandatory fields. Non-mandatory fields that you do not have read or write permissions for are not editable.

Read-only fields are locked for editing and are shown by a visual indicator. If the length of a field name is longer than the column length, the visual indicator might be hidden. Increase the column length to display the visual indicator. Checkbox columns do not show the read-only visual indicator.

Filtering Data

Tip:

You can right-click a column header in the grid to show a menu with options to sort, hide, and group columns. You cannot group by checkbox type fields.

To filter data:

  1. On a PSA app or home page, click Skills and Certifications | Manage Skills and Certifications.
  2. On the Skills or Certifications tab, click the Filter button to display the Filter header.
  3. In the Filter header, type a value in a filter box to filter the data you want to view.
  4. Click Save.

Adding Skill Ratings

To add a skill rating:

  1. On a PSA app or home page, click Skills and Certifications | Manage Skills and Certifications | Skills | Add Skill Rating.
  2. Complete the fields in the Add Skill Rating dialog.
  3. Click Add. The record is successfully added.

Deleting Skill Ratings

To delete a skill rating:

  1. On a PSA app or home page, click Skills and Certifications | Manage Skills and Certifications | Skills.
  2. Select one or more skill rating records.
  3. Click Delete. The records are successfully deleted.

Adding Certification Ratings

To add a certification rating:

  1. On a PSA app or home page, click Skills and Certifications | Manage Skills and Certifications | Skills | Add Certification Rating.
  2. Complete the fields in the Add Certification Rating window.
  3. Click Add. The record is successfully added.

Deleting Certification Ratings

To delete a certification rating:

  1. On a PSA app or home page, click Skills and Certifications | Manage Skills and Certifications | Certifications.
  2. Select one or more certification rating records.
  3. Click Delete. The records are successfully deleted.

Submitting Skill and Certification Ratings for Approval

Note:

Your administrator can implement an approval process using Salesforce Process Builder or a workflow. The approval process must be triggered when the Approval Status is set to "Submitted". You can also use the approval process to set the Approval Status to either "Accepted" or "Rejected".

You can submit your own records for approval depending on your approval process. A message is displayed when records are successfully submitted for approval.

When records are submitted for approval, their status is displayed in the Approval Status column. Values in Approval Status are “Submitted”, “Saved”, “Accepted”, and “Rejected”.

The Approval Status field and Submit for Approval button are displayed when an approval process is active. If you do not have an approval process, Approval Status is not displayed but you can manually add this column. You cannot edit or resubmit records in the approval process with the Approval Status of ''Submitted".

To submit skill and certification records for approval:

  1. On the Skills or Certifications tab, select the records you want to submit for approval.
  2. Click Submit for Approval. The records are submitted to an approver.

Editing Skills

To edit a skill:

  1. On a PSA app or home page, click Skills and Certifications | Manage Skills and Certifications | Skills.
  2. Complete the fields as described in Skill / Certification Rating Fields.
  3. Click Save.

Editing Certifications

To edit a certification:

  1. On a PSA app or home page, click Skills and Certifications | Manage Skills and Certifications | Certifications.
  2. Complete the fields as described in Skill / Certification Rating Fields.
  3. Click Save.
