Adding Lookups (To Template Object)

This topic describes how to add lookup relationship custom fields to custom objects in your organization. See the Salesforce Help for more information.

All Revenue Management users must have read access to all your source objects.

Note:

Lookups need to be added to all source objects that are used in the hierarchy, even if you do not intend to attach Revenue Management templates to all levels. For example, the hierarchy of the source objects could be as follows:

If you only want to recognize at milestone level, you will need to create a lookup relationship custom field to the Template object on your project object as well as your milestone object.

On Source Objects

To add a lookup relationship custom field on your source object to the Template object:

  1. Make sure you are signed in as an administrator.
  2. From Setup, click Create | Objects then select the custom object that you plan to use as your source object. Using Lightning ExperienceClosedNavigate to Setup | Objects and Fields | Object Manager.
  3. Click New in the Custom Fields & Relationships section. Using Lightning ExperienceClosedThe section name is Fields & Relationships.
  4. Choose a field type of Lookup Relationship, then click Next.
  5. Select the Template object, then click Next.
  6. Change the Field Label to Rev Rec Template.
  7. In Field Name, enter ffrrtemplate to use the default API name for this field. If you want to use a different API name, you must edit the Actuals Template field in the Revenue Management Settings custom setting to match.
  8. Click Next to continue.
  9. Specify the access settings of the field for each profile.
  10. Choose the appropriate page layouts to show the field as an editable field.
  11. Click Save.

Repeat these steps for each of your source objects.
