Bottom-Up Planning

Bottom-Up Planning comprises a set of pages, objects and settings. They allow you to build out project plans from project-task level through resource requests to eventual assignments. Bottom-Up Planning allows you to estimate your ability to deliver on open opportunities based on capacity requirements. This reduces risk and provides key information to your sales teams. You can also use the information to create a Statement of Works (SOW) or quote.

Use Task-Based Planning to determine the budget and resources required to deliver a project as shown:

  1. Start with a project plan created in Project Task Gantt or Gantt, with task estimates and assigned resources or roles in place.
  2. Scope out or staff the project by previewing task-driven resource requestsClosed Describes a resource request that has been generated based on information on project tasks and their associated project task assignments. If you use a task-based approach to manage your projects, you can generate task-driven resource requests on the Generate Resource Requests From Project Task Assignments page (accessed from Project Task Gantt, Gantt or the Project detail record). or assignments based on different task attributes.
  3. Initiate the project by generating resource requests, either provisional or held against resources, and assignments and schedules. Records remain in sync throughout, so changes upstream to the assigned resource on an assignment feed back to the resource allocated to a project task.
