Summarized data is stored on the summarization object. The process of purging clears data that is still stored for a particular summarization template. Purging does not delete the summarization template itself; it only deletes the summarized data that was generated from that template.
You might want to purge summarized data when:
- You want to delete a summarization template. You must first purge any summarized data still stored for that template.
- You do not want to store data unnecessarily. For example, you might report on summarized data monthly or yearly and once you have run your report you do not want to continue to store the data.
To purge summarized data:
- Click the Summarization Templates tab.
- Choose a predefined view from the drop-down list to display a list of templates.
- Using the checkboxes on the left, select the templates that you want to purge.
- Click Purge Summarized Data. The templates you have selected are listed on the Purge Summarized Data page.
- Click Purge Summarized Data to proceed.
Purge runs as a batch job. You are notified by email once it has completed.
