User management templates determine the user management template data to be applied to users and the plugin to carry out the action.
You can view and create user management templates from the User Management Templates page in Foundations.
User management templates are made up from records in Salesforce custom metadata types. These custom metadata types are supplied with the User Management app:
- User Management Template
- User Management Template Data
- FDN Plugin
Plugins are provided to apply the following:
- Licenses
- Permission sets and permission set groups
- Accounting companies (Accounting users only)
You can also create your own custom plugins. For more information, see Creating Custom Plugins for User Management Templates.
Example
In your organization you have a Billing Clerk and a Billing Supervisor. To manage their permission sets using the User Management app, create a user information record for each of them and assign user management templates to the records. If you have a large number of permission sets, you could create permission set groups rather than permission sets and assign them to your user management templates.
