Creating Accounting Books

To create an accounting book:

  1. Click the Accounting Books tab.
  2. Click New on the Accounting Books homepage. The Accounting Book dialog displays.
  3. [Optional] Enter a description.
  4. [Optional] To make this the primary accounting bookClosed The main book where transactions are posted by default. for the org, select the Primary checkbox. Non-primary books are known as adjustment books.
  5. Click Save. You can also click Save & New to save the current record and then immediately create another.
Notes: An org can have only one primary accounting book. All other books are known as adjustment books.

Once transactions are assigned to an accounting book (either the primary or any of the adjustment books), you can't delete the book.

Once transactions are assigned to the primary book, the accounting book can't be converted to an adjustment book (you can't uncheck the Primary Book checkbox).
