New Features and Enhancements in Foundations Winter 2023

The following new features have been introduced in the Winter 2023 release of Foundations.

If you are upgrading from a previous version, see Upgrading to Foundations Winter 2023. This provides a summary of the items that have been added for each feature and details of any required upgrade steps.

FinancialForce Help

We have introduced a new FinancialForce Help Lightning component to enable you to easily access documentation that is relevant to the processes you’re completing or the page you’re viewing.

The new component is available to access from selected FinancialForce apps or from custom utility bars.

For Winter 2023, the following products have introduced the FinancialForce Help utility bar:

  • Foundations
  • Billing Central
  • PSA
  • Revenue Management
  • Accounting
  • Planning
  • Customer Success Cloud

For more information about using the new FinancialForce Help, see FinancialForce Help Overview.

Personas

We have made improvements to the existing User Management app to simplify the process of creating Salesforce user records.

You can now create personas, which are based on user management templates, to contain common permission set, permission set group, and license details that you can apply when creating a new user.

You can create personas from a new Persona Workbench tab, using simple tools to build up the persona’s content.

Optionally, one or more personas can be selected when creating a user record from the new Create User tab. This new tab enables you to create Salesforce user records in real time. We have included additional common fields to the User Information object to enable you to optionally record a user’s address and company details.

Previously, a password was always generated when creating a new user. Now, on the Create User tab, you can specify whether you want to create a password for the user. By default, the option to generate a new password is selected.

Both new pages are accessible from the Foundations & Integrations Task Launcher and the User Management app.

We recommend that you use the existing user information functionality to make changes to existing user records.

For more information about getting started with user management tools or converting existing templates to personas, see User Management Templates and Personas.

Clearer Release Information

We have improved the experience for FinancialForce product awareness by creating:

  • A Feature Highlights page that highlights a new or improved feature in three products. These highlights outline the key features and their benefits, which we have developed from the most requested customer ideas.
  • An in-app prompt that contains information about the features in this release. To find out more about FinancialForce In-App Guidance, see In-App Guidance Overview.

This enables you to find all of the information and help that you need to be productive with our products as quickly as possible.

Collapsible Record Page Templates

We have enhanced the record page templates that have a collapsible sidebar, which were introduced in an earlier release. Their collapsed or expanded state is now maintained between different records of the same object when using the same browser. This enables you to set your preferred state once for the records of the object that you are viewing or updating.

For more information on how to use page templates, see the Salesforce Help.

Product Update Selection

You can now use the Major Update Schedule page to select an update. You can use the Major Update Schedules page to view and select your preferred schedule for each major product update. As well as updating the production org, you can now select which of the associates sandbox orgs receive the push update. For more information on product updates, see Major Update Schedules.

Changing a Push Update Schedule

You can use the Major Update Schedule page to amend your selected major update schedules. For more information on changing update schedules, see Managing Major Update Schedules.

Update Schedule Edit Limitation

We advise that you make your update schedule choice for each release as early as possible. However, you can still amend your update schedules up to 48 hours before the update is due to start. To ensure data is synchronized and there is sufficient time to run essential checks before the update starts, you will be unable to make any changes to an update schedule within 48 hours of when the update is due to commence. For more information on product updates, see Working with Product Updates and Versions.
