Upgrading PSA Direct for Jira Integration

Note:

If you are an existing user and use the previous PSA Direct for Jira version you must upgrade PSA Direct for Jira to configure the latest feature updates.

To upgrade the PSA Direct for Jira, perform the following steps:

  1. Click the Feature Console tab.
  2. Click Upgrade PSA Direct for Jira to view the feature steps.
  3. Use the Status slider in the Feature section to mark the feature as disabled.
  4. Click Perform next to feature step 1. This creates the necessary data transformation tables to the Data Transformation Table section in Foundations. When the process completes, the status is set to "Done". If you revert this step, it allows you again to create new tables. For more information about the Priority Mapping table, see Customizing PSA Direct for Jira Field Mappings.

For this release the tables are:

    • Jira Issue Types to Issue Category Mapping
    • Jira to PSA Priority Mapping
    • Jira to PSA Status Mapping
    • Jira to PSA Time Entry Status Mapping
    • PSA to Jira Priority Mapping
    Note:

The Jira to PSA Status Mapping table is used to map the Jira Issue status to PSA Project Stage. Whereas Jira to PSA Time Entry Status Mapping table is used in Project to Issue mode to map Issue status category to either true or false for setting the PSA Project Stage to Completed and selecting the Closed for Time Entry checkbox.

  5. Click Perform next to feature step 2. This starts a background process that checks for the Project Task object already synced with Jira and updates the Jira Parent Task field value if the value is null. When the background process is started, the status of the step is moved to "Done".
  6. Click Perform next to feature step 3. This copies the named credential endpoint URL to the PSA Direct for Jira Activation protected custom setting. When the background process is started, the status of the step is moved to "Done". This ensures that the Jira Project URL field will work as expected.
  7. [Optional] Click Perform next to feature step 4. This upgrades the existing webhook in Jira that integrates Jira with PSA Direct for Jira. When the process completes, the status is set to "Done". In this release, you must perform this step if you want to synchronize changes in Jira to PSA.
  8. [Optional] Click Perform next to feature step 5. This adds the Jira Parent Task field to the PSA Direct for Jira section and the Jira Child Issues section to the Related List in the Project Task page layout. When the process completes, the status is set to "Done".
    Note:

Before you perform step 4, ensure that you have assigned PSA Direct for Jira - Project Management permission set to your user.

For more information on the field, see:
  9. [Optional] Click Perform next to feature step 6. This adds a Child Jira Issues related list to the PSA Project Task Layout page layout on the Project Task object. We recommend that you manually remove the fields that are not relevant for the features that you enabled.
  10. [Optional] Click Perform next to feature step 7. This removes the PSA version of the Jira Project URL field from the PSA Direct for Jira section in the Project page layout. When the process completes, the status is set to "Done".
  11. [Optional] Click Perform next to feature step 8. This adds the PSA Direct for Jira versions of the Jira Project URL field and all the integration fields to the PSA Direct for Jira section in the Project page layout. When the process completes, the status is set to "Done".
