Credit Invoices

SCM credit invoices are created to rectify errors made on an SCM invoice. Credit invoices may also be created when a customer wishes to return previously purchased items. For more information on customer returns and credit invoices, see Enhanced Customer Returns and Customer Return Credits.

A credit invoice contains one or more lines that are created based on the source invoice's lines you are crediting an amount for.

Credit Invoice Line Types

The available credit invoice line types are the following:

Credit Invoice Line Type

Description
Drop Ship Item Used for items that do not belong to your inventory and are directly sold from the supplier (a purchase order is issued to the supplier to satisfy the sale).
Freight Used for freight charges.
Item Used for items that are defined in the Item Master.
Labor Used to invoice labor.
Miscellaneous Used for miscellaneous charges.
Tax Used to add tax.

Credit Invoice Workflow

This is the usual workflow to credit an invoice:

  1. Create a credit invoice record using the Credit Invoice button available on the invoice record page.
  2. Add credit invoice lines by specifying the source invoice's lines you want to credit and the amount you want to credit for these lines.
  3. Export the credit invoice to Accounting so that it can be posted. The credit invoice is exported as a sales credit note.
Note: We do not recommend that you create credit invoices directly from the Credit Invoice home page.
