What is a Bank Statement Definition?
A bank statement definition is used when importing bank statement details to your organization. It defines various characteristics such as column/field mappings and date formats.
You can manage these definitions via the Bank Statement Definitions related list on Bank Account. Only one bank statement definition per bank account is allowed.

Date formats
The following date formats are supported:
- dd/mm/yyyy (or dd-mm-yyyy)
- dd/mm/yy (or dd-mm-yy)
- mm/dd/yyyy (or mm-dd-yyyy)
- mm/dd/yy (or mm-dd-yy)
Monetary value formats
You can define the following formats:
- The maximum number of decimal places
- A decimals separator (comma or period)
- A thousands separator (comma or period)
Payment and receipt formats
You must specify how payments and receipts are identified within your import file. The options are:
- Negative Payments/Positive Receipts (use Amount Position column mapping)
- Positive Payments/Negative Receipts (use Amount Position column mapping)
- Two Columns (use both Payment and Receipt Position column mapping)
Other characteristics
A bank statement definition also enables you to define the following characteristics:
- The number of the row on which to start the import, if it contains header text.
- The character to use as a delimiter.
- The mappings between the columns in the import file and the Bank Statement Line Item fields.
