Putting Inventory Away

When items have been received into a receiving warehouse, they must be put away to their destination location where they can be picked up later. When a receipt is created, the items on the receipt are listed on the Action Queues Put Away Inventory tab. In the same way, when you reverse the allocation of an item, the item is also listed on this tab. The putaway process in SCM consists of confirming the putaway of the received items once they have been moved to their destination locations in the available warehouses.

The quantity received for an item can be partially put away. Items display on the Put Away Inventory tab while they have a received quantity that is pending the putaway confirmation. Once you confirm that the total received quantity of an item has been put away, the item line no longer displays on the Put Away Inventory tab, Additionally, the location on the inventory position related to the item changes from the receiving location to the destination location.

Note: Inventory position lines in the Put Away Inventory action queue that are allocated prior to a putaway action will no longer be visible in the Put Away Inventory action queue.

Confirming That Items Have Been Put Away

This section describes the steps you must perform to confirm the putaway of items.

Using Lightning Experience

To confirm that received items have been put away to a particular inventory location:

  1. Click the Put Away Inventory tab. This tab belongs to the Action Queues app and you can search for it using the App Launcher.
  2. In the Warehouse field, select the warehouse that you want to filter the items by. Only active warehouses to which you are assigned are available for selection. The warehouse's ICP is displayed below the warehouse name. If the warehouse that you usually work with is not available, contact your administrator.
  3. Select the items that you want to confirm.
  4. Ensure that the putaway quantity is correct and modify it if necessary. By default, the Putaway Quantity field displays the same quantity as the Quantity Received field.
  5. Click Select Location.
  6. Select the location where the items have been put away from the drop-down list. The locations where a selected item is already stored are labeled as "Current Location".
  7. Click Save. The Location column updates with the chosen value for the items you selected.
  8. Click Confirm.
Tips:
  • Use the search box above the grid to refine the displayed data and find the items you are looking for. For example, you can search items by name or condition. You can also use the search box in each column header to quickly filter the column data.
  • To show only the items you've selected, click Show Selected. Once your selected items are the only ones displayed, click Back to Results to show all items again.
  • Use the search box on each column to quickly filter the displayed content.
  • If you want to clear the values in the Location column for multiple items at the same time, select these items and click Select Location. Then leave the Location field blank and click Save.

Using Classic or Lightning Visualforce Pages

To confirm that received items have been put away to a particular inventory location:

  1. Click the Action Queues tab.
  2. Click the Put Away Inventory tab.
  3. Select the checkbox of the item that has been put away.
    Tip:

If there are several items that are to be put away at the same location, you can select the checkbox for that item grouping. If all the items on the page are to be put away at the same location, you can select the Select All On Page checkbox.

  4. Specify the location where the item has been moved to. This must be a location within the warehouse associated with the selected item.
    Notes:
    • You must enter the location in the field relating to the checkbox that you selected in the previous step. For instance, if you selected the Select All On Page checkbox at the top of the page, you must enter the location in the field at the top of the page.
    • Select from the Current Location drop-down list to use an inventory location in which stock already exists for the item. Select from the Enter Location look up to select an alternative inventory location for the item.

  5. Click Confirm Selected Items.
