Connecting to Your Org

Before you can download a report, you need to connect to your org from within Microsoft Excel®. You must have:

  • A valid username and password
  • Appropriate permissions

To connect to your org:

  1. Open Microsoft Excel and select the XL Plus tab.
  2. Click Connect.
  3. Enter your Salesforce username and password.
  4. Select the type of org that you want to report on from the drop-down menu (Production or Sandbox).
  5. Click Connect.

When connected to your org, you can retrieve reports from the following source types in your org and work with the data in Microsoft Excel:

  • Salesforce
  • Reporting
  • Action Views
  • Analytics

For Analytics, XL Plus only supports compare table lenses.

You can only connect to Reporting reports in your current Accounting company. If you want to create Reporting reports for a different company, you must disconnect from XL Plus, change your current company, then reconnect. Similarly, to change org in Salesforce (for example, from Sandbox to Production), you must disconnect then reconnect.

When you finish working with your reports, click Disconnect on the XL Plus tab in Microsoft Excel.
