What is a Selection Definition?

A selection definition stores predefined source objects/fields and optional filter conditions for use in the desktop apps Compatible applications installed on your local computer. and when sending email messages such as remittances and reminder letters to a group of accounts. Once defined, you can save the selection definition and use it whenever you need the same selection criteria. In the desktop apps, they are called "selections".

Selection definitions used to send mass email must use the appropriate master object for the type of message.

* In this context, when the master object is set to "Payment Media Summary", detail-level filter conditions are ignored.

** In this context, when the master object is set to "Transaction", master-level filter conditions are ignored.

Note:

Selection definitions created in the core Accounting application and the selections created in the desktop apps are available in all applications, but are not interchangeable. They must be uniquely named across the organization.

Selection definitions created to send mass email, such as statements and reminders, use the source object/fields defined in the email template, not those defined in the selection definition. Only the filter conditions are relevant in this context. The same applies to Print Formatter. This application uses the format definition to determine the source object/ fields.

The Selection Definitions tab displays a home page that lets you quickly create and locate your selection definitions. You can also sort and filter your selection definitions using standard and custom list views Give you instant access to specific sets of data. In addition to using existing views, you can create custom list views for the items most relevant to you..
