Viewing Project Task to Issue Synchronization Errors

As for all the other Integration Hub workflows, when an error occurs during the Sync Project Tasks from PSA to Issues in Jira workflow, an email is sent and a Foundations message is created in PSA. In addition, in specific cases, an app log record is created for each project task that failed to sync with Jira. This allows you to easily track where the issue originates from, fix it, and then retry the sync process for the failed project tasks.

App log records are created when:

  • The connection is lost between PSA and the Integration Hub while syncing.
  • The connection is lost between the Integration Hub and Jira while syncing.
  • The Jira API returns an unexpected error.
  • Your configuration is not correct. For example, if:
    • You don't map a required Jira field using a Jira to PSA Mapping record, for example, Epic Name.
    • You don't add a required field on the Jira creation screen, for example, Time tracking.

Viewing Error App Logs

To view an app log record that contains a Jira - PSA error:

  1. In PSA, open the App Logs tab.
  2. Open an app log record whose Origin field is set to IntegrationHub.JiraPSA.
    Tip:

Create a list view where Origin equals IntegrationHub.JiraPSA to easily view the relevant error app logs.

  3. Review the Data2 field. It contains information on the actual error. The Data field contains the details of the project task that failed to sync with Jira.
  4. Fix the cause of the error and retry the sync process.

Retrying the Synchronization Process

Once you have fixed all the issues, you can run the process to sync all the project tasks that had previously failed to sync.

To run the process:

  1. In PSA, open the PSA Administration tab.
  2. Scroll to the bottom of the page.
  3. In the Jira-PSA Integration section, click Retry Project Task Sync.
The process starts in the background. You receive an email notification once the process finishes.
The existing app log records are removed. If a project task fails to sync again, a new app log record is created for that project task. In that case, you receive two email notifications: one to notify you that the process has completed with errors and a second email that specifies which project tasks failed to sync and why.
