Creating Summarization Templates
To create a new summarization template:
- Click the Summarization Templates tab.
- Click New in the Recent Summarization Templates section.
- Specify a unique name for the summarization template.
- Pick a dataview for the summarization template to use. For information about restrictions on editing dataviews when they have been attached to a summarization template, see Editing Dataviews.
- Define the summarization template using the tabs:
Field Mappings
- Click Add to add a blank row to the grid.
- In the From column, pick the source field on the selected dataview.
- In the To column, pick the destination field on the destination object.
The data types of the From and To fields must be compatible. See What is a Summarization Template? for more information. The Summarization Method is set to SUM or Group By depending on whether or not the source field is flagged as Aggregatable on the underlying dataview.- [Optional] Click to apply a column filter. Row SelectionCreate a rule that determines what data is retrieved when you run the summarization template. Field mapping rules are built using one or more selection criteria, such as "Account Name starts with S". For more information, see Filter Statements. Fields from relationship joins cannot be used in selection criteria.GeneralSet the Base Reference Period to select data from a specific period. You can specify the period using hard dates or soft dates. The hard date format is yyyy/ppp, for example 2012/001 where 2012 is the year and 001 is the first period (of 2012).
- Click Save or, if you want to start the summarization process immediately for the template, click Save and Build
Editing a Summarization Template
To edit an existing summarization template, select the Summarization Templates tab then click Edit next to the template you want to edit. The Summarization Template - Edit page opens where you can make your changes.
