Managing Field Mapping Definitions

You must be signed in as an administrator to create, edit or delete field mapping definitions.

You can generate field mapping definitions automatically for a "Use in Revenue Contract" settings recordClosed A recognition settings record that has the Use in Revenue Contract checkbox enabled. by clicking the Create Mapping button on the recognition settings detail page or on the recognition settings list view. But if you want to map custom fields to your performance obligation line items (for example, for filtering purposes) you will need to add them to the generated field mapping definition. You can also create field mapping definitions manually if you wish.

To edit an existing field mapping definition:

  1. Click the Field Mapping Definitions tab.
  2. Navigate to the detail page of the field mapping definition record.
  3. Click Edit.
  4. Make the changes you require. See Supported Field Type Mappings for details of which field type mappings are supported.
  5. Click Save.

To create a new field mapping definition:

  1. Click the Field Mapping Definitions tab.
  2. Click New.
  3. Enter a name for the field mapping definition.
  4. Specify the source and target objects.
  5. Add field mappings as required. See Supported Field Type Mappings for details of which field type mappings are supported.
    • If you are mapping a field to a boolean you must supply the value that represents True. You can optionally choose to invert the boolean result in the target field so that, for example, a True value becomes False.
    • You can map a fixed value to a target field by entering a specific value in the Fixed Value field then picking the appropriate target field. You must leave Source Field blank if you supply a fixed value.
  6. Click Save.

Once you have created a field mapping definition you can assign it to the recognition settings records that you want to use it. When you create a performance obligation line item, it will inherit the field mapping definition specified on its source record's recognition settings but you can optionally override this default.
