Recording Bank Charges and Interest
To create a new bank charge or interest line item on a bank reconciliation The process of comparing and matching transaction values against those shown on a bank statement in order to uncover any possible discrepancies.:
- Display the details of the reconciliation.
- Click New Bank Reconciliation Charge from the Bank Reconciliation Action section.
- Specify the type of charges line item you want to add.
- Type a description for the new charges line item, such as a date or a reason for the charge.
- In the Values section, enter a single, positive value in the appropriate field.
- In the Analysis section, leave the fields blank if you want to use the default general ledger account The general ledger will normally include general ledger accounts (GLAs) for items such as income, expenses, assets, liabilities, and reserves. and analysis dimensions Custom objects that allow you to analyze the activity in your business in additional ways, such as by cost center, project, employee, or any other business entity important to you. defined on the bank account record. These default values are applied on save. You can, however, enter alternative analysis values.
- Click Save.

- Click Save.
- [Optional] Click Clone to create another charges line item.
- When you are finished, click the Bank Reconciliation link to return to the bank reconciliation detail page. The new charges line items are displayed and the calculated totals in the header are updated.
