Migrating Avalara Tax Codes to AvaTax Code to Product Group Mappings

The Avalara Tax Code object is replaced with the AvaTax Code to Product Group Mapping object. You must copy the records from one object to the other. We recommend using Datastream to do this. The table below provides more information about how fields from the Avalara Tax Code object can be mapped to the fields on the AvaTax Code to Product Group Mapping object.

Note:

The Active? checkbox is not available on the AvaTax Code to Product Group Mapping object. This is because all AvaTax code to product group mappings are active as soon as you create them. You cannot create multiple mappings for a given product group and item type combination. We recommend that you filter out inactive records before creating the Datastream spreadsheet.

You must ensure that the Item Type picklist on the AvaTax Code to Product Group Mapping object contains the same values as the Item Type picklist on the Item Master object. For example, if you have a custom type named "SaaS" on the Item Master object, you must create the same picklist value for the Item Type field on the AvaTax Code to Product Group Mapping object. If you do not create the picklist value, Datastream creates them as inactive values. For more information on how to add picklist values, see the Salesforce Help.
