What is a Recognition View?

A recognition view is a saved snapshot of the filter criteria (source object tabs, filters and filter values) applied on the Forecast Revenue page or the Recognize Revenue page. Any grouping criteria applied on the Recognize Revenue page are also saved with the recognition view. Recognition views save you valuable time by allowing you to return to a known set of display options at any time.

A recognition view can be your own 'working copy' (only you can see and use it) or shared (other users can see and use it). Your administrator manages this sharing. See "Managing Recognition Views" for more information.

Working copy recognition views are saved automatically:

  • In Recognize Revenue, the working copy recognition view is saved when you click Generate Data. The recognition date, and any filter or grouping criteria you applied before clicking Generate Data are saved to the view.
  • In Forecast Revenue, the working copy recognition view is saved periodically as you make changes to the view.

You can also choose to save a named recognition view at any time by clicking Save next to the Select View drop-down on the Forecast Revenue page or the Recognize Revenue page. Once configured, other users could be able to see and load these 'shared' recognition views.

Typically, only the view's owner can edit or delete a shared recognition view, but how this is actually configured in your org is up to your administrator to decide.

Note:

The status of the Create Data for Parallel Reporting? checkbox is also saved to the recognition view. By default this checkbox is deselected so that recognition runs directly on source records. This is compatible with how the recognition process worked in versions of Revenue Management prior to V4.1.
