Adding Mappings to Subscriptions

You can add custom mappings of target fields to message keys in subscriptions. This enables you to see all available keys included in the published message and add them to the subscription.

  1. On the Registered Products tab, click the name of the product containing the subscription you want to customize.
  2. Click the name of the subscription you want to edit in the Subscriptions related list.
  3. Click Right Arrow Description to expand the Description section.
  4. Click Add .
  5. If mapping to a single field, select the target field:
    1. Select the target field that you want from the Target drop-down list.
      Tip:

      Fields are labeled "Field" in the drop-down list.

    2. Select the key for the source information or enter a new name for a message key to map to the target field.
    3. [Optional] Select a data transformation table to apply. See Data Transformation Tables for more information.
  6. If mapping to a child record:
    1. Select the target object that you want to map the information to from the Target drop-down list.
      Tip:

      Child objects are labeled "Related List" in the drop-down list.

    2. Select the key of the source information.
      Note:

      This must match the key of the source information in the publication from which this subscription obtains the data.

    3. Select the action to take for child records:

      Description

      Add OnlyAdds new records and leaves existing ones. Duplicate records might be created.
      Update CorrelatingUpdates existing child records that match the records in the message. Existing child records that do not match are left. If you choose this option, the Child Correlation Field and Child Correlation Key boxes appear to enable you to specify the criteria that determines whether a record in the message matches an existing one.
      Update Correlating and DeleteUpdates existing child records that match the records in the message. Existing records that do not match are deleted. If you choose this option, the Child Correlation Field and Child Correlation Key boxes appear to enable you to specify the criteria that determines whether a record in the message matches an existing one.
      ReplaceDeletes all existing child records and creates new ones from the message.
  7. Click Update or Update and Add New depending on whether you want to add another mapping at the same level.
  8. Click Save.
