Adding Milestones from a Template
You can copy all or selected milestones and their associated risks from an existing project A collection of activities and related items to be managed over a defined time range, such as timecards, expenses, milestones and budgets. to your current project. The existing project does not need to be marked as a template.
To add milestones from a project template:
- On a project record, click Actions | Project Financials | Add Milestones from Template. The Select a Project window opens.
- Select a project to copy milestones from by selecting a recently used project, or by searching for a project using two or more characters anywhere in the project name.
You can select from all projects or choose to select from only template projects. Up to 100 projects are listed and are controlled by project sharing settings. Projects without milestones are not listed.
- Click Next. The milestones and their associated details are displayed, and all of the milestones are selected by default.
Read-only columns are displayed before editable columns. Contact your administrator if you want to change the visibility or order of the columns. For more information, see Notes for Administrators.
- Select an option that reflects the date that the milestones should start in the project that they are being added to. The dates of the other milestones that you are adding are calculated relative to this date:
- Offset from project start date: The earliest milestone is offset from the project start date by the same number of days as in the template project. If the project does not have a start date, the milestone's original start date is used.
Example: The template project's start date is 4th May and the earliest milestone starts on 8th May. If your project starts on 28th August, the earliest added milestone starts on 1st September.
- Offset from selected date: This defaults to the project's start date. The earliest milestone is offset from this date by the same number of days that the earliest milestone is offset from the project start date in the template project.
Example: The template project's start date is 4th May and the earliest milestone starts on 8th May. If you select a date of 1st June, the earliest added milestone starts on 5th June.
Your option is retained if you are using the same browser on the same computer.

- [Optional] Deselect any milestones that you do not want to copy.
- [Optional] Edit the data in fields, as needed. Edited dates override automatically scheduled dates. For picklists, start typing, select an option from the generated list and press Enter.
- Click Add Milestones. The selected milestones are added to the current project.
