Using Related Content Panes

You can control the availability and layout of related content panesClosed Shows various types of information in the action view results, for example address and contact information, tasks and chatter posts associated with the account. Some information is editable. using the Related Content Panes Editor.

Opening the Pane

You can view the Related Content Panes via Action Views or by clicking the Related Content Panes tab, depending which is most efficient for you.

From Action Views tab:

  1. Click the name of the Action ViewClosed Enables you to inquire on FinancialForce Reporting data and any other data held on the Salesforce platform. Uses dataviews, related content panes, and action view templates. Template. You see a list of entities to select from. For example, for Account Name you see a list of companies.
  2. If the Open Related Content Pane icon icon is displayed next to a results row, click it to show a pane of related content, such as contact or address information. The pane slides out from the right-hand side of the screen. As you click the Open Related Content Pane icon icon for different rows in the grid, the information in the pane updates. The name and driving object are shown at the top of the pane. Your pane may have more than one tab of information.

Use the scroll bar at the bottom of the results grid to see results columns hidden by the pane.

To hide the pane, click Hide Related Content Pane icon next to the highlighted row.

To refresh the information shown in the pane, click Refresh.

From Related Content Panes tab:

  1. Click the name of the Related Content Pane:
  2. Select the entity from the drop-down list. For example, select the Account from the list of account names.

Field-Level Security

When displaying data, Action Views uses your Salesforce field-level security. When you open a related content paneClosed Shows various types of information in the action view results, for example address and contact information, tasks and chatter posts associated with the account. Some information is editable. you may not be able to view the content of some fields. If you do not have read access to a field, its component is grayed out and locked.

Note:

If you do not have edit access for a field, the field-level security overrides the "Enable Edit" setting if it is selected.

Resizing Components

A block of information on the pane is known as a component. To temporarily resize a component on your pane, grab a lower corner and drag it to set the size you want. The component stays at its new size when you view other records in the results grid. All components return to their default size when you leave the action view, for example if you click Back to List on Action Views or Go to list on Related Content Panes . They cannot be saved at the new size. If you want to resize a component permanently, you need to edit the Related Content Pane.

Editing the Pane Content

Some fields may be editable on the pane. This depends on how your pane is set up and your permissions. Click Edit icon to edit individual components on the pane. Click Save.

Note:

In Action Views if you click Edit the Action View Template opens. In a Related Content Pane if you click Edit the Related Content Pane Editor opens.

In a Related Content Pane you can edit any of the included tabs. For example, click the Action Views tab to open the action view templateClosed Specifies the dataview that you are inquiring on.. You can now use the action view template toolbar to edit the action view.

Notes:

If you save your changes to the action view template, they overwrite the previous configuration.

You can have an action view that has a related content pane attached which itself contains an action view component with the same name and information. The two action views are treated as the same item. If you change and save one of them, then the other is also changed and saved.

Changing the Pane

From Action Views, the default pane is set on the action view template. If more than one pane is available you can choose another by clicking Related Content Pane Toolbar on the toolbar and picking another pane from the drop-down. If you change the default at run time, the new setting is saved when you save your view, but is not saved to the action view template.

From Related Content Panes, click Edit to open the Related Content Pane Editor.
