What is Enterprise Billing?

In a FinancialForce context, the term "enterprise billing" is used to describe support for sales invoices and credit notes of more than 80 lines.

Note:

The threshold at which some billing processes switch between an interactive online process and an asynchronous batch one is set at a default of 80 lines. However, in some instances, this threshold can be adjusted. Ask your administrator for more details of the thresholds in force in your organization.

In this release of FinancialForce Accounting enterprise billing documents are supported in a batch context, but you must have:

The actual limit of how many lines your org can support (up to a maximum of 500) depends on the complexity of your data and is controlled by FinancialForce. Contact FinancialForce Support or your FinancialForce Product Services representative for more details.

How do I create these enterprise billing documents?

Sales invoices and sales credit notes of more than 80 lines cannot be created interactively using the standard FinancialForce Accounting interface. This applies to both Classic EditionClosed The view of the application that you see when you first install the base managed package. and Extended EditionClosed The view of the application that you see when you install one of the extension packages (such as the Cash Entry Extension package). For invoices, credit notes, and journals Extended Edition is integrated into the main package, but must be configured..

You can create enterprise billing documents in a customized, non-interactive and batch context. You can use integration tools such as ClickLink with your own in-house development skills, or contact FinancialForce Product Services.

Once in a correctly configured org, these enterprise billing documents can be viewed, edited, cloned, saved and posted using the standard Salesforce interface (Extended Edition).

What else can I do?

Most other actions on these enterprise documents must be in a batch context. With this in mind you can:

  • Use the Salesforce API to manage these documents.
  • Use the FinancialForce Accounting API to manage these documents.
  • Create an invoice from an opportunity or another source object using the Web Service API to call the first-generation integration rules (IR1) via custom code.
  • Create an invoice, with or without a payment schedule, using Scheduled ClickLink Jobs, Run ClickLink Jobs or list view buttons.

What can't I do?

The following restrictions relate to enterprise billing documents:

  • You cannot open them in Classic Edition.
  • You cannot discard them using a batch process. You must do this interactively using a custom button in Extended Edition.
  • You cannot use Manage Lines in Extended Edition.
  • You cannot use income schedules.
  • You cannot use Run Integration Rules (first-generation integration rules).
  • You cannot use .
  • You cannot create enterprise recurring invoices, either interactively or in batch.
  • You cannot create enterprise intercompany billing documents (sales invoices or credit notes).

Some features previously only available in Classic Edition have been replaced by custom buttons that can be added to the appropriate page layout in Extended Edition. See Enterprise and Extended Billing Organizations for details.
