Gantt Preferences

Gantt preferences enable you to control the related behavior of project tasks and the related project. The preferences apply only to you, but:

  • Project preferences are applied only to the project that you set them on.
  • User preferences are applied to all projects that you work on.

Changes that you make to either type of preferences are restored each time you open Gantt on the same computer, using the same browser.

To open the Preferences dialog, click Preferences button.

Project Preferences

  • Adjust this project's end date automatically

This is deselected by default. If selected and applied, the project's end date changes automatically to match the end date of the project task with the latest end date. You cannot edit the project end date from the task grid or the Gantt chart.

Tip: We recommend that you select this option if you are using the Critical Path function. For more information about the critical path, see Using Critical Path in Gantt.
  • Adjust tasks based on this project's start date automatically

This is selected by default. When applied, all task dates are moved with respect to any changes that you make to the project's start date.

User Preferences

This is selected by default. When applied, you can use keyboard shortcuts for some actions in Gantt.
