The following new features have been introduced in the Winter 2023 release of Planning.

If you are upgrading from a previous version, see Upgrading to Planning Winter 2023. This provides a summary of the items that have been added for each feature and details of any required upgrade steps.

Dependencies on other FinancialForce Packages

You must install the following package as a mandatory package before installing or upgrading to this release of FinancialForce Planning:

  • FinancialForce Foundations Winter 2023

Security and Data Confidentiality on Budgets

From this release onwards, FinancialForce Planning, has provided security and data confidentiality on budgets. A new Share button on the budget page allows you to share a newly created or existing budget with a specific user or group and grants users or groups access to budgets.

Assigning a budget to an Authorized Planning User

In previous releases, the users with administrator permissions were able to view all the budgets. The standard users were allowed to view their own budgets. From the Winter 2023 release, you can now share a budget allowing the budget owner to share the budget with any users, and users can view and manage the shared budget.

Viewing the Assigned Budgets

FinancialForce Planning now allows you to view the budgets assigned to the users in the budget list. With this capability, you can limit the budget list to:

  • View only budgets assigned to an owner
  • View the ones shared with you as a user
  • Include the budgets shared with you via User or group

Enhancements to Headcounts Planning Capabilities

From this release, you can view budget allocation user Information and assign the budget holder to the budget.

Viewing Budget Allocation and Assigning Budget Holder

You can view the headcount budget details for the users responsible for allocating the budget, so it is easier to identify the manager in charge of the salary increment for the employees.

A new Budget Holder field is added to the Details tab that allows the budget holder to indicate who the manager is in charge of the salary increment for this budget.

A new Budget Holder field is added to the Budget Lightning page, which is editable on selecting the budget template, which is the Headcount by Resource budget template.

Filtering Headcount Resources Based on Budget Holder

In the Headcounts tab, as a budget holder, you can view the list of headcount employees that are filtered based on the Reporting Manager field and belongs to the budget holder hierarchy and generate the Headcount by Resource Lines. You will have limited access to or can filter the employees that belong to different budget holders. To do this, a new Budget Holder field is added to the Payroll object, allowing you to filter the list of headcount employees.

By filtering the employees by the budget holder, FinancialForce Planning adheres to GDPR compliance. It ensures that the user in charge of the Salary Increment date is authorized to view the employee data displayed in the Headcounts tab and that the authorized user performs the changes.

  • When two employees have the same name with different reporting managers, the list is filtered based on the assigned budget folder.
  • When two employees have the same name with same reporting managers, the list is filtered based on the assigned budget folder.
  • If no reporting manager name is specified in the Payroll name, no employees are filtered in the Headcounts tab.
  • If there is no Payroll line and the information of the reporting manager name and the budget holder are the same, then no employees are filtered, no data is retrieved, and an information message is displayed.
