Production Orders

The Production Orders tab allows you to manage creation of items that require an element of manufacturing or assembly before they can be shipped to a customer. A production order can have one or more production lines for the items that need to be created for the order.

When an item is ordered that requires an element of manufacturing and that item is not in inventory, it is placed on backorderClosed Backorders are created when a sales order is approved and the order cannot be fulfilled because there is no inventory available for one or more items on the sales order. A backorder is also created when an item on a sales order is a manufactured kit and requires a production activity to be carried out on it to turn it into the finished product.. When a production order is created for the item and it contains a bill of materials, those items are also placed on backorder if they are not in inventory. When the items are received by the warehouse they are automatically allocated to the production order.

In each production order line you can also allocate the items from stock to the production order. You can also undo this action for inventory that has already been allocated to a production order line.

You can submit a production order for approval to continue with it. Once the production order has been approved its picklist can be confirmed on the Production tab in Action Queues. From the Production tab you can also mark the production order as complete when the production work is complete. When a production order is complete, the inventory for that order appears on the Put Away Inventory tab in Action Queues. You can then select a location in the warehouse to place the item.

Once a production order has been completed, you can mark it as such. The customer order can then be confirmed and shipped on the Action Queues.
