What is an Aged Analysis Definition?

An aged analysis definition defines the presentation of a specific type of aged analysis report, such as an aged debtClosed An amount owed by a customer that is current or overdue by one or more given periods, usually increments of 30 days. or an aged credit report. Once defined, you can save the aged analysis definition and use it whenever you need to generate a similar report.

Note:

At V10, Accounting introduced the As of Aging tab into the main application. As of Aging provides more functionality than Aged Analysis Definitions (such as the option to age by transaction date rather than due date). Your administrator can disable access for users to the Aged Analysis tabs (Aged Analysis Definitions and Aged Analysis Reports) if you decide to standardize on using As of Aging instead.

The aged analysis definition includes the following information:

  • The name of the report, which is also used as the report heading.
  • The type of aged analysis—debtors or creditors.
  • Some default values for the next stage of report generation—currency and account selection.
  • Checkboxes to indicate whether you want to show or hide up to four predefined columns.
  • The settings for up to 10 user-defined columns.

Other than selecting the aged analysis type, an aged analysis definition does not define content of an aged analysis report, just the format. The content is specified at run time.

The Aged Analysis Definitions tab displays a home page that lets you quickly create and locate your aged analysis definitions. You can also sort and filter your aged analysis definitions using standard and custom list viewsClosed Give you instant access to specific sets of data. In addition to using existing views, you can create custom list views for the items most relevant to you.. In addition, this tab lets you view and edit detailed information on each aged analysis definition.
