Using the CFO Profitability Detail Dashboard
The CFO Profitability Detail dashboard consists of tabs which correspond to key performance indicators (KPIs) and a summary of trends for each KPI. On each tab, you can perform dimensional analysis by KPI.
Tab | Description |
---|---|
All Trends | The All tab provides an overview of all of your KPIs in the form of line charts. For further details, you can navigate to the tab of a KPI by clicking the view button (for example, View revenue) below a KPI. |
Revenue | Through column, donut, map, and bar charts, this tab provides a detailed overview of your revenue. Drill down functionality enables you to view the transactions related to your revenue data. For information about drill down functionality and using the map chart, see "Using Dashboard Charts". |
Gross Margin | Through column and bar charts, this tab provides a detailed overview of your gross margin. |
Operating Expenses | Through column and donut charts, this tab provides a detailed overview of your operating expenses. Drill down functionality enables you to view the transactions related to your operating expenses data. For more information, see "Using Dashboard Charts". |
EBITDA | Through column and bar charts, this tab provides a detailed overview of your earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA). |
Using Dashboard Charts
Each tab displays a range of charts for the corresponding KPI. Click View Details to open further details of a chart, if available. Additionally, you can use the charts in the following ways for further analysis:
Some of the charts displayed on the KPI tabs contain dimension selectors (drop-down menus) where you can select and change the dimensions you want to analyze.
The fields listed in these drop-down menus represent fields from the Financial Balances dataset. For details of these fields, see Financial Balances Fields.
When you make changes to dimension selectors, ensure that you use the Save View functionality to avoid losing your settings. You can click Save View on any tab of the CFO Profitability Detail dashboard, however, the currently selected tab is the default tab for the view and is therefore visible the next time you open the view.
In Analytics, faceting is used to link filters between charts. When you click data on a chart with faceting enabled, the connected charts within the dashboard are automatically filtered.
For example, if you click a bar on the Gross Margin by Company (%) bar chart on the Gross Margin tab, the data in the Gross Margin and Gross Margin (%) bar charts changes in response to the relationship specified by faceting.
When you facet, the filters apply to all tabs of the dashboard. As a result, when you change from one tab to another, the data is filtered according to the filters specified by the faceted chart. To remove these filters, clickin your dashboard.
For information about faceting, see the Salesforce Online Help for Analytics.
The Revenue and Operating Expenses tabs contain an Account Details table. Using drill down functionality, you can open related transaction line items for the data in the Transaction Line Name column. This feature may be useful if, for example, you notice a spike in your expenses and want to obtain more information.
To drill down on data:
- Click View Details below a bar or donut chart on the Revenue or Operating Expenses tab to open more details including the Account Details table.
- Hover over a cell in the Transaction Line Name column in the table.
- Click , then click Open Record.
The related transaction line item opens in a new tab.
The map chart is a feature of the Revenue tab which enables you to geographically visualize data. Through gradients, the map displays levels of revenue. You can also hover over a region on the map to view the amount of revenue and percentage against the total revenue. Additionally, by clicking the View Details button, you can open a heat map displaying a gradient of revenue in two dimensions.
To use the map chart:
- [Optional] Change the value that you want to calculate your revenue by. The default value is Account Billing Country.
- Use the toggle bar to select the part of the world that you want to view.
- Click View Details to open the related heat map.
- Click the region on the map that you want to view. For example, when US States is selected, click New York.
- [Optional] Change the Dimension X and Dimension Y values. The default values are Product Name and Account Billing City, respectively.
