Synchronizing PSA Resources to Jira Users

If you enabled the Sync Resources from PSA to Users in Jira workflow via the Feature Console, eligible resources are automatically synchronized to Jira. A resource is eligible for syncing if the Sync with Jira checkbox is selected.

Note:

For a resource to be synced to Jira, the Email field must be populated with a unique email address.

When you create a new resource in PSA, the connector creates a new Jira user with the information listed below. Similarly, when you edit an eligible resource in PSA, the connector updates the related user in Jira.

Key: * – Mandatory field

PSA Resource - Jira User Default Mapping

PSA Resource (Contact) Field

Jira User Field

First Name + Last Name Full name
Email * Email address
Email * Username

For more information on modifying the default mappings or creating custom mappings, see Customizing Jira - PSA Mappings.

The new Jira user is automatically assigned the Jira Software application access.

After a user is created in Jira, the Jira Correlation ID field is automatically populated in PSA. You must not change this value unless you are manually correlating existing users. For more information, see Linking Existing Records.

Notes:
  • If you are using Jira Cloud, when you edit a resource in PSA the changes aren't synced with the related user in Jira. This is due to Jira limitations. If you need to edit a Jira user, you must do so manually in both applications.
  • Jira users are not deleted or deactivated if the Is Resource field or the Is Resource Active field are deselected in PSA. If you need to delete or deactivate a Jira user created by the connector, you must do so manually in Jira.

If an error occurs during the synchronization, the PSA user who created or updated the resource receives an email notification and a Foundations error message is created.
