Managing Inventory Locations
Each inventory location belongs to only one warehouse. You can specify locations down to five levels, but each location must belong to an existing warehouse and contain a row, which is the highest level location in a warehouse.
Adding an Inventory Location
To add an inventory location to a warehouse:
- Click New or New Inventory Location on the Inventory Locations tab.
- Select the warehouse to which the location belongs
- Enter the name of the first level of the location in the Row field.
- [Optional] Enter a second level location in the Rack field.
- [Optional] Enter a third level location in the Section field
- [Optional] Enter a fourth level location in the Shelf field.
- [Optional] Enter a fifth level location in the Bin field.
- Click Save.
Using Classic
Alternatively, if a similar location already exists:
- Click Clone on the Inventory Location Detail page of the location you want to clone
- Edit the fields
- Click Save.
Activating an Inventory Location
Before items can be stored in the location, it must be active. To activate a location, select the Active checkbox on the Inventory Location Detail page of the location that you want to activate.
Deactivating an Inventory Location
If a warehouse no longer uses a location, you can deactivate it. You must ensure there are no inventory positions associated with an inventory location before you deactivate it. To deactivate the inventory location, clear the Active checkbox on the inventory location detail page.
