Creating Preceding and Dependent Tasks

You can make project tasks depend on other project tasks.

To create a preceding or dependent task:

  1. Display the project taskA unit of work or collection of work associated with a project. for which you want to add a preceding or dependent task.
  2. If you want to add a preceding task scroll to the Preceding Tasks related list. If you want to add a dependent task, scroll to the Dependent Tasks related list.
  3. Click New Project Task Dependency.
  4. Complete the fields described in "Project Task Dependency Fields".
  5. Click Save.
Note

You may need to re-apply dependency rules when project tasks that have a dependency relationship are created or edited using the standard Salesforce Project Task Detail page.

The parent project of the preceding or dependent tasks is marked Requires Dependency Sync after one or more of the following actions:

When one of these actions occurs, the Apply Rules button becomes available in Project Task Gantt, depending on the configuration options set by your administrator.
