Standard Salesforce Related Lists on Custom Input Forms

Standard Salesforce related lists can be enabled on custom input forms where the form type is View or Input & View. The related lists available for a document type are derived from the underlying object. For example, which related lists are available on custom input forms to view sales invoices depends upon which features are enabled on the sales invoice object.

Assuming that the required features are enabled on the underlying object, the following standard Salesforce related lists are available:

Attachments and Files

If you are using Salesforce Files in your org rather than attachments, the setting "Files uploaded to the Attachments related list on records are uploaded as Salesforce Files, not as attachments" may have been enabled in your org. This setting is located under App Setup | Customize | Salesforce Files | Settings | General Settings.

Regardless of whether this setting has been enabled, the Attachments related list on a custom input form will deliver attachment functionality - not Salesforce Files functionality. If you want to encourage users to use Salesforce Files rather than attachments, do not include the Attachments related list on custom input forms.

Refer to the Salesforce documentation for information about the difference between attachments and Salesforce Files.

Notes

If you are using the Salesforce notes functionality introduced in Summer '15, the "Enable Notes" custom setting will have been enabled in your org. This setting is located under App Setup | Customize | Notes | Notes Settings. The Notes related list on custom input forms will then let you view notes created using both the old and new note functionality, but creating notes will use the new functionality.

If the "Enable Notes" setting is disabled, you will only be able to view notes creating using the old functionality, and creating notes will continue to use the old functionality.

Refer to the Salesforce documentation for information about the difference between the old and new notes functionality.

Events and Tasks

Salesforce presents events and tasks together in the Open Activities and Activity History related lists, but on custom input forms they are presented as separate Events and Tasks related lists.

If you are used to checking the Activity History list to see which events and tasks are completed, this functionality is not replicated on custom input forms. Instead you will need to check task status in the Tasks related list, and due date in the Events related list.

History

All information in the History related list is read-only. This is the standard Salesforce behavior.

Chatter

To access Chatter through a related list, Chatter must be enabled on the org and the custom objects for the document types must be configured to allow Chatter Groups and feed tracking. Refer to the Salesforce documentation for more information.

When Chatter is available as a related list, any Chatter feed associated with the document header is displayed. Chatter feed on document line items is not included.

Groups

The Groups related list shows a read-only list of groups where the document has been mentioned in an @group Chatter comment.

Approval History

The Approval History related list can be enabled on custom input forms but is not configurable. It shows the approval statuses that the document has gone through, and allows you to take action such as approve or reject the document.

The Reassign and Recall buttons are not supported in Lightning.
