New Features and Enhancements in Foundations Summer 2022
The following new features have been introduced in the Summer 2022 release of FinancialForce Foundations
Foundations Datastream
Foundations Datastream enables you to create or update records in your org quickly and easily by importing data from a spreadsheet.
Datastream uses familiar copy and paste functionality, enabling you to define data within a spreadsheet, then copy data tables and paste them directly into your org. Datastream then converts the table rows into records. You can use Datastream to upload records for any object in your org.
You can use Datastream from the Foundations Datastream tab or from pages that include the FDN Datastream Lightning component.
For more information, see Datastream Overview.
Datastream functionality was previously available as a separate package. We recommend that you use the features provided in Foundations and uninstall the FinancialForce Datastream package.
For upgrade information, see Upgrading to Foundations Summer 2022.
Foundations and Integrations Task Launcher
We have added a task launcher to provide a central location for common Foundations and integrations links.
This release, the task launcher will include a link to view and configure Foundations external tax calculation settings. If your org includes the PSA Direct for Jira integration, the task launcher also displays links to the configuration tabs for that integration.
To view links from the task launcher, make sure you have permission to access the linked tabs.
The page is available to administrators through the Foundations & Integrations Task Launcher tab.
For more information, see Foundations and Integrations Task Launcher Overview.
Messaging Activation Buttons
We’ve added a new messaging activation method to enable you to trigger messaging for specific records from a list view or record page.
The new option is available when selecting an activation method for a messaging relationship.
For more information about messaging activation methods, see Activating a Messaging Relationship.
Import ClickLink Rules
To support the new messaging functionality in Foundations, we have made it easy for you to convert ClickLink rules to Foundations messaging relationships.
You can export ClickLink rules and import them into Foundations using the Messaging Import button on the Message Types tab.
The following mapping types are supported:
- Basic mappings, such as field to field and static data to field
- Child relationships
- Multiple sources (such as field or static data) to the same child target, using target child types
- Splitting flat data to a master-detail structure, grouping detail records by parent records identified by common values
Correlation strategy is also included when importing ClickLink rules.
For more information about messaging activation methods, see Converting ClickLink Rules to Messaging Relationships.
PSA Analytics Setup
From this release, the PSA Analytics Setup object is contained in Foundations. This object is required to create PSA Core Analytics apps.
For more information on creating PSA Analytics apps using the PSA Core Analytics and PSA Advanced Analytics templates, see
Financial Report Builder Foundations External Module
From this release, Financial Report Builder is included as an external module within Foundations.
For more information on installing Financial Report Builder, see
Archiving Billing Documents
FinancialForce Accounting's Archiving feature now supports archiving billing documents.
Derived Unit Price Field Added to Billing Document Line Item
A formula field has been added to Billing Document Line Item. The Derived Unit Price field shows the average price charged per unit before tax. This might be different from Unit Price because it takes account of adjustments such as proration and discounts that are applied to the line as a whole rather than to individual units. It is calculated using the formula: Net Value / Quantity.
You might want to use this field for integrating with systems that only allow unit price and quantity with no other adjustments, or when you want the unit price to accurately reflect what is being charged.
System Administration Workspace Major Update Schedules
We’ve added a Major Update Schedules page to the System Administration workspace. The Major Update Schedule page enables you to review the available update schedules for your production and sandbox orgs and select the major updates that best suit your business model and working practices. This means you can choose a major release update that won't coincide with other business critical activities you might already have scheduled.
The Major Update Schedules can be accessed from the by clicking the Major Update Schedules link on the System Administration Workspace page.
For more information, see Major Update Schedules.
Fixes
Fixes are now listed on the Known Issues page of the FinancialForce Community. You can access this page from the Release Hub menu. For a brief description of the issues that have been fixed in this version of Foundations, see the related section of the Known Issues page.
