Setting your Current Company

This step is not necessary in a single-company organization. The only company automatically becomes a user's current company when you create their user company record.

Classic mode

The name of your current companyClosed The company in which you are working. If more than one company is set as your current company, you are in multi-company modeClosed State in which the current user has more than one current company selected. Data entry is disabled until the user returns to single-company mode. Enable multi-company mode when you want to generate reports that contain data from more than one company.. Note:

If you cannot see the current company in your sidebar, ask your System Administrator to check that the FinancialForce Company component is included in the home page layout assigned to your user profile. The supplied FinancialForce home page layout includes this component by default.

To change your current company in a multi-company environment:

  1. Click the Select Company tab to display the select company page. A list of your accessible companiesClosed A list of one or more active companies to which a user has access. is displayed.
  2. Set the Current checkbox on the row that represents the company (or companies) in which you want to work. If you want to work in single-company mode, select only one checkbox.
  3. Click Save.
  4. Click the Home tab to see that the change of company or mode has been applied.

Lightning mode

To change your current company in a multi-company environment:

  1. Click the tab displaying the current company name (or "No company selected") in the utility bar to display the select company page. A list of your accessible companiesClosed A list of one or more active companies to which a user has access. is displayed.
  2. Set the checkbox adjacent to the company (or companies) in which you want to work. If you want to work in single-company mode, select only one checkbox.
  3. Close the current company utility:
    • Click the minimize button.
    • Click the Current Company tab.

The company name you selected will appear in the utility bar tab.

Warning:

Do not change the current company while a batch job is being processed. The only time you can switch companies while a batch job is running is if you have System Administrator permissions and the related batch job is included on the Disable Select Company Validation List custom setting. To monitor the progress of an asynchronous batch job, navigate to Setup, then click Monitoring | Apex Jobs. The queue lists any batch jobs that have not finished execution. The Total Batches column lists the total number of batches for the job. The Batches Processed column lists the number of batches that have been processed. See the Salesforce Help for more information.
