New Features and Enhancements in Billing Central Winter 2023

The following new features have been introduced in the Winter 2023 release of Billing Central.

If you are upgrading from a previous version, see Upgrading to Billing Central Winter 2023. This provides a summary of the items that have been added for each feature and details of any required upgrade steps.

Dependencies on other FinancialForce Packages

This release of Billing Central requires the following FinancialForce package to be installed:

  • FinancialForce Foundations Winter 2023

You must install this package before installing or upgrading to this release of Billing Central.

Easily Amend Prices on Active Contracts

A new Amend Prices function makes amending prices on active contracts much easier. Instead of having to manually create a change request with all the new pricing information, you can do either of the following:

  • Specify a percentage price change for a whole contract.
  • Enter new unit prices for individual contract line items on a contract.

In both cases you also have to specify the date from which the price change is effective (Effective from Date). Billing Central then creates a change request with updates to the contract line items to take account of the price changes. The changes Billing Central makes to contract line items depend on:

  • Whether they are one-off or recurring lines.
  • Where they fall in relation to the Effective from Date.
  • Whether they have been billed beyond the Effective from Date.

The changes can involve a contract line item being cloned. If you do not want the values of some fields to be copied to a cloned contract line item, you can exclude them by adding the fields to the Cloned Line Excluded Fields field set.

Dynamic Updates on The Edit Selected Products Page

When adding or editing contract line items via the Edit Selected Products page, the Sales Price and Total Contract Line Value fields now update dynamically if you edit a field that affects their value such as Unit Price. The fields that have changed are highlighted with a yellow background. If your permissions exclude a field that is required to calculate Total Contract Line Value, the value is not updated until you click Save on the Edit Selected Products page.

Total Contract Line Value also updates dynamically on contract line items in the enhanced related list if you change the proration policy assigned to the contract.

Create Change Requests in Bulk via The ContractsService API

Services have been added to the ContractsService API to allow change requests to be created in bulk. The new services are:

  • createChangeRequestObjects
  • saveNewChangeRequests

FinancialForce Help

A FinancialForce Help Lightning component has been added to the default utility bar associated with FinancialForce apps. In Billing Central, it opens Help for the current page or tab. If a Help page specific to the current page or tab cannot be found, the default FinancialForce Help page is displayed.
