This new field is a value assigned by some state jurisdictions that identifies a particular store location. These states may require tax liabilities to be broken out separately for each store location. The Avalara Location Code field is available on the following object headers:
- Customer Quotation
- Sales Order
- Invoice
When you create a Customer Quotation or a Sales Order, no Avalara transaction is created. When the sales order is shipped and the related invoice is created you can copy the Avalara Location Code from the Company section on the Avalara Organization tab and paste it into the Avalara Location Field on the Invoice header. After saving the sales invoice you can click Calculate Tax.
Once the total tax is calculated you can open the sales invoice in Avalara and the Avalara Location Code will be displayed on the Transactions tab.
Avalara Location Code Default
If no location code is entered in the SCM Invoice the field default value is used in Avalara. The default for the Avalara Location Code is Blank.
