Using the Resource Schedule

You can use the Resource Schedule to view and manage an individual resource's schedule and to view and manage multiple resources.

Note:

To use the Resource Schedule, an administrator must assign you the PSA - Staff Resource Requests permission set.

Viewing the Resource Schedule

To view the Resource Schedule:

  1. [Optional] In the Resource Filter specify a date range in the Start Date and End Date fields.
  2. On a resource request record, click Resource Schedule. The Resource Schedule opens and displays the default Week view for today.
  3. [Optional] Hover over an assignment or resource request for a resource to view the following default tooltip fields:
    • Start Date
    • End Date
    • Estimated Hours (resource requests only)
    • Scheduled Hours (assignments only)
    • Project
  4. [Optional] Select a resource in the Resource Schedule and click Resource Details to view their details in the contact card. See Contact Card Lightning Component Fields for more information.
Note:

If you adjust the column widths, your changes are retained when you click Reload button on the Resource Schedule or refresh your browser page.

Changing the Dates of Assignments and Resource Requests

To update the dates of assignments or resource requests from the Resource Schedule:

  1. Drag the resource request or assignment to a new start date. Although schedules are preserved where possible, the end date might be recalculated to take account of non-working days.
  2. Click Save.
  3. [Optional] Hover over the assignment or resource request to view the updated start and end dates.
Tip:

If you drag an assignment or resource request and then change your mind, click Reload button to return to the last saved state.

Pinning and Unpinning Resources

To pin or unpin a resource:

  1. Select a resource in the Resource Schedule.
  2. Click Pin button
  3. Click Unpin button to remove the selected resource as a pinned user.
Note:

You cannot pin the resource request record in the Resource Schedule.

Comparing Resources

To compare resources, click Compare in the Resource Schedule. The top three resources in the Resource Schedule are displayed in the Compare Resources window.

Viewing or Editing Projected Schedules of Resources

Your administrator can set the default scheduling strategy. For more information, see Resource Schedule Lightning Component Properties. You can override the strategy in the Scheduling Strategy field.

The scheduling strategy you select in the Manage Schedule window is reset to the default scheduling strategy specified by your administrator when you:

  • Close the Resource Request page.
  • Reload your browser.

To view or edit a resource's projected schedule:

  1. Select a resource in the Resource Schedule.
  2. Click Manage Schedule | Schedule.
  3. [Optional] Select a strategy from the Scheduling Strategy picklist. The Projected Start Date and Projected End Date fields display for the new schedule to be created for the selected resource. These are based on the selected scheduling strategy and the start and end dates from the filter criteria.
  4. [Optional] Select the Custom scheduling strategy and do the following:
    1. Enter the hours you want in the Daily Hours fields. The Total hours field is automatically updated as you enter hours.
    2. Click Refresh End Date to update the Projected End Date field and reflect the custom hours you have entered for the schedule.
  5. Click OK. The selected scheduling strategy is applied and the start and end dates from the filter criteria.
