Enabling the Tax Calculation Using Avalara Feature

This Feature Console feature updates the default SCM page layouts with the relevant fields and buttons for external tax calculation. It also creates unmanaged permission sets to enable users to perform the relevant actions.

All the feature steps are automatic and optional. This is to enable you to only update the page layouts and create permission sets that are relevant in your org. For example, if you don't plan on calculating tax for purchase orders, skip all the steps related to purchase orders. Similarly, if you don't plan on committing tax for invoices, skip the step for posting, committing, and canceling tax for invoices.

If you use your own page layouts instead of the default page layouts, we recommend that you add the relevant fields to your page layouts. The fields for each object are listed in the relevant feature steps.

For more information about the Feature Console, see Feature Console.

Manually Assigning Permission Sets

Once you enable the feature, you must manually add the newly created permission sets to the relevant users. The table below details the permission sets that are created by enabling this feature. For more information about how to assign permission sets to users, see the Salesforce Help.
