About the Timer

You can use the PSA Timer component as an additional way to log time more efficiently against your:

  • Assignments
  • Cases
  • Milestones
  • Projects
  • Project Tasks
  • Any other custom objects set up by your administrator

The range of records that timer sessions can be recorded against is customizable and may vary depending on how your administrator has configured the Timer component in your org. Contact your administrator for more information.

Note:

You must have the required read and edit object permissions assigned to you, to use the Timer component with these records. Contact your administrator for more information.

Time logged using the timer appears in the list view of your timer component after running a timer session, against the record you have logged time for.

The timer component is also available in your workspace and utility bar for ease of access. For more information, contact your administrator.

Notes:
  • You can only select and record time against assignments, projects, project tasks, and cases that are assigned to you.
  • The timer component synchronizes across all areas it is added to. For example, stopping a timer session in your utility bar also stops the session on the page it is added to.
  • You also must have the following permission sets assigned to use the timer component:
    • PSA - Start and Stop Timers
    • PSA - Start and Stop Timers - Cases, to record time against cases
    • PSA - Enter Time Against Projects and Assignments, to use the Enable Timecard Sync option

The Timer component also allows you to sync your timer sessions to your timecards. For more information, see the Enabling Timecard Sync on the Timer topic.
