About Column Filters

You can define column filters on the Columns tab of the action view template. They enable you to be more selective about what information is displayed in columns. For example, if the selection rule on your action view template retrieves account name data, you can apply column filters to display different columns depending on Industry, Ownership, or Rating. Similarly you can filter by date to display home value figures for the previous year, year to date, and current period in different columns. These examples are explained in more detail below.

When building column filters you can set criteria to Prompt if you want users to supply the values at runtime.

Note:

Only fields that have the Presentable checkbox enabled on the underlying dataview can be used in column filters. Where the same field is used in more than one column on the Columns tab of the action view template, you must ensure that the column titles are different.

For more information about building column filters, see Filter Statements.

Applying Column Filtering Based on Account Name by Industry

To filter account names based by industry:

  1. Ensure that the selection rule on your action view template is set up to retrieve account name data.
  2. On the Columns tab of your action view template, add a column called Industry.
  3. To this column apply the following filter: Industry = Engineering.
  4. Save and run the action view template.
