Creating a Budget

To create a budgetAn amount used to manage expenditure on customer purchase orders, internal budgets, outbound vendor purchase orders and work orders. A budget must be associated with a project. when creating a projectA collection of activities and related items to be managed over a defined time range, such as timecards, expenses, milestones and budgets. from a template or an opportunity:

  1. Scroll to Projects on the regionA level of hierarchy used in PSA to which other objects belong such as resources, opportunities and projects., practiceA level of hierarchy used in PSA to which other objects belong such as resources, opportunities and projects., groupA level of hierarchy used in PSA to which other objects belong such as resources, opportunities and projects., accountAccounts in the context of FinancialForce PSA are the same as accounts in Salesforce. Users can create and view certain FinancialForce PSA data related to the account on the related lists. or opportunity that you want to associate with the project.
  2. Click Create Project From Template.
  3. Select the template you want to use and click Select.
  4. Complete the fields described in "Project Fields"
    Note
    Some of the project fields are completed automatically. If you have permissions to do so, you can edit these fields after creating the project.
  5. Complete the fields in the Budget Details section. For further information, see "Budget Fields".
  6. Click Create.

    The project is created with the budget you entered.

To create a budget and add it to a project:

  1. Click the Budgets tab then click New, or click New Budget on the Budgets related list.
  2. Complete the fields described in "Budget Fields".
  3. Click Create.
