Creating a Project from a Template

Tip:

To make a project available for selection as a template in the Create Project From Template UI, you'll need to set the project's Template checkbox to true.

You can quickly create projects from your templates if you have repeatable projects. You can do this when the details required for a new project are very similar to those of another project and its related items, such as assignment and resource request records. For instance, you can easily insert a budget when you create a project from a template and also refine the records you want to copy.

There are two editions of Create Project From Template. These are the Classic and the Extended editions. Your administrator can set a configuration option to decide which edition is used in your org. See use-extended-create-project-from-template-edition. The Create Project From Template button and link opens either edition.

Note: Note
Fields are grouped in sections or by tabs depending on the edition of Create Project From Template you're using. Depending on configuration, records on tabs or in sections may all be already selected by default.
Your administrator can edit several field sets to modify the fields that appear on this page. See Field Sets for more information.

Extended Edition

This edition provides better template selection functionality than the classic edition. For instance, improved filtering and sorting to locate and select the template you want to copy. You can sort columns in this edition to assist you in finding the template you want. The functionality to select records you want to copy is also better in this edition.
