Saving the Permission Differences

After you have compared the permission type's permissions that have been added to selection 1 and selection 2, you can choose to save the results to either a new permission set or muting permission set.

Notes:

Saving the Permission Differences to a New Permission Set

To save the permission differences to a new permission set, perform the following steps:

  1. In the Save window, select Save to New Permission from the Save As drop-down menu.
  2. Select Selection 1 or Selection 2 from the Save From field to save the type of permission. By default, Selection 2 is selected.
  3. Enter a label for the permission set. The API name is populated automatically based on the label name. You can modify the API name, if required.
Note: Ensure that the label and API name is not already in use elsewhere on your org.
  4. Click Save.
Note: To view the permission set you have created, navigate to Setup | Permission Sets. For more information about the permission sets, see the Salesforce Help.

Saving the Permission Differences to Muting Permission Set

Note: When saving the Muting Permission Set, all the child objects get muted if a parent object is muted in a Master-Detail relationship. For example, muting the Billing Document would mute the Billing Document Line Item dependent permissions.

To save the permission differences to a muting permission set, perform the following steps:

  1. From the Save As drop-down menu, select Save to Muting Permission Set.
  2. Select Selection 1 or Selection 2 from the Save From field to mute the type of permission. By default, Selection 2 is selected.
  3. From the Permission Set Group field, search for an existing permission set group.
Note: Ensure that you have a permission set group available in your org against which you create a muting permission set. Multiple permission sets can be grouped into a single permission set group.

For more information on creating a permission set group, see the Salesforce Help.

  4. Enter a label for the permission set. The API name is populated automatically based on the label name. You can modify the API name, if required
Note: Ensure that the label and API name is not already in use elsewhere on your org.
  5. Click Save.
Note: You cannot use muting permission sets outside of permission set groups, and only one muting permission set exists per permission set group. If an error occurs while muting the permission set, see the Permission Error Logs.

To view the muting permission set you have created, navigate to Setup | Permission Sets | Muting Permission Set. For more information about muting permission sets, see the Salesforce Help.
