Permission Workbench
The Permission Workbench tab is available from the User Management app and allows you to compare and merge permission sets, permission set groups, profiles, and users. An org contains a range of permission sets, permission set groups, profiles, and users with different permissions assigned to each of the permission types in the Salesforce and FinancialForce app.
Using the Permission Workbench tab, you can view, compare, and merge permissions assigned to multiple fields and objects. It also allows you to solve issues faster and provides a better user experience by analyzing which permissions are missing in a selected permission set, permission set group, profile, and user and displays what a permission set, permission set group, profile or user can or cannot do. It also allows you to:
- Compare and merge the differences between field and object permissions in your selected permission sets, permission set groups, profiles, or users.
- Compare and merge the differences between the assigned permission sets, permission set groups, and profiles for selected users.
- Filter permission sets and permission set groups based on the managed packages.
- Save permission differences and merged permissions to a new permission set, or muting permission set.
For example, take one permission set, permission set group, profile, and user and compare or merge it with another permission set, permission set group, profile, and user. Then, view and analyze the permission differences for multiple fields and objects. You can then save all the results to either a new permission set or muting permission set.
You can compare and merge the permissions for the following permission types.
Level |
Description |
---|---|
Field | Field permissions specify the access level for each field in an object. |
Object | Object permissions specify the base-level access users have to create, read, edit, and delete records for each object. |
For more information on the permission sets, see Permission Sets and Other Technical Documentation.
