Permission Control Fields

Here is a description of the fields that make up a permission controlDetermines whether a single user has permission to carry out specific tasks in FinancialForce PSA. record.

Key: M – Mandatory, complete only one field.

Field   Description
User * Name of the user being granted permissions.
Resource M In most cases the user and the resourceA contact that works on a project. are the same person. If your organization uses external resources, and you want to set up a proxy user to enter their timecards and/or expenses, this field should contain the name of the external resource.
Region/ Practice/ Group M RPGAbbreviation of region, practice, group. to apply permissions to. You can extend permissions for a proxy user to perform the functions being permitted for all resources in a RPG by entering the applicable entity in the appropriate field.
Project M Project to apply permissions to. You can extend the permissions for a user so that they can staff a projectA collection of activities and related items to be managed over a defined time range, such as timecards, expenses, milestones and budgets. when they do not have permissions on the RPG to which the project belongs.
Cascading Permission   Indicates whether the permissions are to be extended to the children of the selected RPG.
Start/End Date   Period the permissions are to be applied. You can leave blank for perpetual permissions.

Permissions

Field   Description
Billing   Indicates whether the user has permissions to generate and release billing events belonging to a specific RPGAbbreviation of region, practice, group. and to edit billing related fields such as the Billed and Billing Event Item checkboxes.
Expense Entry   Indicates whether the user has permissions to enter and edit expenses for the defined resources.
Expense Ops Edit   Indicates whether the user has permissions to edit expenses in admin mode for the defined resources after they have been approved but before they have been billed. See "About Ops Edit Permission Controls".
Forecast Edit   Indicates whether the user has permissions to make changes on the Services Forecasts page for the RPGAbbreviation of region, practice, group. or project. A user's ability to do this is also defined by their role—see "Services Forecasting Permissions Overview".
Forecast View   Indicates whether the user has permissions to view the RPG or project on the Services Forecasts page. A user's ability to do this is also defined by their role—see "Services Forecasting Permissions Overview".
Invoicing   Indicates whether the user has permissions to edit Invoicing-related fields on a project's business records such as the Invoiced checkbox, Invoice Date and Invoice Number.
Resource Request Entry   Indicates whether the user has permissions to enter or edit Resource Requests for a RPGAbbreviation of region, practice, group. other than their own.
Skills And Certifications Entry   Indicates whether the user has permissions to enter skills and certifications for the defined resources.
Skills And Certifications View   Indicates whether the user has permissions to view skills and certifications for the defined resources.
Staffing   Indicates whether the user has permissions to staff resources on the specified regionA level of hierarchy used in PSA to which other objects belong such as resources, opportunities and projects., practiceA level of hierarchy used in PSA to which other objects belong such as resources, opportunities and projects. or groupA level of hierarchy used in PSA to which other objects belong such as resources, opportunities and projects..
Forecast Edit   Indicates whether the user has permissions to edit forecasts on the Forecasts page of a region, practice or group.
Forecast View   Indicates whether the user has permissions to view the Forecasts page of a region, practice or group.
Staffing   Indicates whether the user has permissions to staff the defined resources on projects.
Timecard Entry   Indicates whether the user has permissions to enter or edit timecards for the defined resources.
Timecard Ops Edit   Indicates whether the user has permissions to edit timecards in admin mode for the defined resources after they have been approved but before they have been billed. See "About Ops Edit Permission Controls". 
Project Task Gantt Edit   Indicates whether the selected user can use Project Task Gantt in edit mode when they are not the project manager of the selected project.
Project Task Gantt View   Indicates whether the selected user can use Project Task Gantt in read-only mode when they are not the project manager of the selected project. If a project is selected for this permission control, the permission control is applied to all child projects. When a user selects a project where they are not the project manager, but have been granted the Project Task Gantt View permission control, that project is opened in read-only mode and they cannot make changes to project tasks. If a user is not the project manager of a project and has not been granted the Project Task Gantt View permission control for that project, that project is not listed in the Select Project drop-down list.
