Resource Planner and Project Planner

View and manage your resource pool and active projects with the new Resource Planner and Project Planner.

Overview

The new Planners provide complementary views into the same data. You can view assignments and held resource requestsOccurs when a named resource has been reserved (held) against, but not booked to, a project or opportunity. Also referred to as "soft booking". together with schedules, organized by resourceA contact that works on a project. or projectA collection of activities and related items to be managed over a defined time range, such as timecards, expenses, milestones and budgets.. The new Resource Planner indicates the resources that are over, under or correctly allocated with a color code.

You can modify schedules, including duration, schedule patternThe number of hours usually worked per day on an assignment. and daily notes, on the timeline or the edit assignments panelA contextual panel used to manage schedules for resources and projects on the Resource and Project Planners.. When you're done, you can choose whether or not to save changes to your Salesforce organizationA deployment of the Salesforce/FinancialForce applications with a defined set of licensed users. Your organization includes all of your data and applications, and is separate from all other organizations., allowing you to work through "what if" scenarios. A broad selection of filters, which you can remember between sessions, give you insight into the resources or projects that you work with every day.

Note: Note

When you make changes in Project Task Gantt and Resource and Project Planners, temporary status messages display on the screen. The messages fade after a few seconds. To have your messages persist, move your mouse pointer into the message box.

Accessing the New Planners

Access the new Resource Planner and Project Planner using the buttons and links accessed from the PSA areas shown:

Notes:

Your Salesforce locale settings determine how dates and numbers are formatted.
The initial zoom level of the new Planners is always set to Quarterly.
If you access the new Planners from the project, resource or RPG detail pages and can't see any records, check the filters that are enabled on the Filters Panel.
The options available in your sidebar may vary depending on your home page layout.

Minimum Requirements

You can use the new Resource Planner and Project Planner if you have at least the following:

One of our Supported Browsers.
A display resolution of at least 1280 x 1024 pixels.

Note: Note

The new Resource Planner and Project Planner do not support frames. Therefore you can't use them with the Console tab or Service Cloud Console, or any custom integrations that use frames.
