Managing Projects

To manage a project taskA unit of work or collection of work associated with a project. or checkpointZero day task record, which is used to represent an event in the project such as a key decision, completion of a work package, completion of a deliverable or end of a phase. Checkpoint tasks have no relationship with PSA milestones. using Project Task Gantt:

  1. Click Project Task Gantt on the PSA Links sidebar or on the Project Detail page of the project that you want to manage.
  2. If not already selected, choose the project that you want to manage from the Select Project drop-down list.
Notes
If you are the project manager and/or have been granted a valid Project Task Gantt Edit permission control, the project is opened in edit mode and you can make changes. If you are not the project manager, but have been granted the Project Task Gantt View permission control, the project is opened in read-only mode and you cannot make changes to project tasks. If you are not the project manager of the project and have not been granted the the Project Task Gantt View permission control for that project, the project is not listed.
If a project is open in read-only mode, the Save button is not displayed and a message appears in its place:

To quit Project Task Gantt and return to the Project Detail page:

  1. Click Return.
  2. If there are unsaved changes, a confirmation popup appears. If you want to save your changes, click Stay on Page, click Save and then repeat the previous step. If you want to discard unsaved changes, click Leave Page.

To choose a different project:

  1. Select the project that you want to manage from the Select Project drop-down list.
  2. If there are unsaved changes, a confirmation popup appears. If you want to save your changes, click Stay on Page, click Save and then repeat the previous step. If you want to discard unsaved changes, click Leave Page.

Other interactions:

To toggle full screen mode, click Image: Full Screen Icon. The Salesforce title bar is hidden in full screen mode.

To expand or collapse the Task and Schedule panes so that one of them fills the page, click the arrow button in the task or schedule page depending on which pane you want to expand or collapse.

To change the portion of the page that a pane occupies, drag the dividing line between the Task pane and the Schedule pane left or right.

Tip
If the Schedule pane disappears after clicking Minimize, click Fullscreen, maximize the Schedule pane and then click Minimize.
